LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved on Tuesday a motion authored by Councilmember Bernard C. Parks to offer a reward of $75,000 for information leading to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the March 7th shooting of three mentally handicapped individuals.
At approximately 12:50 PM on March 7th, unknown suspects fired several rounds striking and inuring three individuals sitting in the back yard of an adult daycare facility for the mentally handicapped at 2020 W. Vernon Ave. The suspects fled eastbound on Vernon Ave. LAPD reports that it’s likely that the intended targets were on sidewalk in front of the facility.
“I am calling on the community to take a stand and send a loud and clear message that there will be absolutely no tolerance for violence committed against innocent victims,” Parks said. “There is someone out there that knows something, and I hope that this $75,000 reward will provide an extra incentive to come forward and share what you know with the detectives.”
LAPD encourages witnesses to come forward, even anonymously, to assist them in their investigation. Anyone with information should contact Detective Michelle Diaz at 213-473-4861, or by calling LAPD’s 24-hour tip line at 877-LAPD-24-7.
