Councilmember Parks Seeks Help from Community to Close 2012 Unsolved Murder of Paul T. James

Councilmember Bernard C. Parks and 77th Division Detective Gerardo Vejar will hold a news conference to ask for the community’s help in finding the individual(s) responsible for the murder of 40-year-old Paul T. James.

Councilmember Parks introduced a $50,000 reward motion February of this year to help encourage leads that would lead to an arrest. To date, no suspects have been captured and the reward has not been claimed. Family members previously came to Council and addressed their grief and desire for those who knew anything to come forward.

On October 11, 2012 at approximately 8:45 p.m., Paul T. James was walking in the area of 9632 South Hoover Street when he was approached by an individual wearing a hooded sweatshirt who then fired several rounds at James, fatally wounding him. The public is encouraged to call the Criminal Gang Homicide Division at 213-485-4341 if they have any information. Anonymity is guaranteed.
