Learn How You Can Apply to Serve on the Commission and
Ensure the Commission Reflects the Diversity of Our State
In 2008, California voters passed Proposition 11, creating California’s first-ever citizens redistricting commission. The 14-member commission is responsible for drawing the state Senate, Assembly and Board of Equalization districts. The legislative lines drawn by the commission will determine political representation in California for the next decade.
Online applications are due on February 12, 2010. Please join us to discuss the role of the California Citizens Redistricting Commission and how to apply to serve on it. Learn more at www.WeDrawTheLines.ca.gov or www.greenlining.org under the "our democracy" tab.

YWCA Greater Los Angeles
The YWCA Greater Los Angeles has roared into 2010! With the closing of the L.A. Job Corps Urban Campus new market tax credit financing in late December, the construction moved into the next phase full steam ahead -- shoring is complete and the “the big hole dig” for the basement and foundation begins this week! We would like you to join us in celebrating this project on February 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. The “YWCA Los Angeles Job Corps Construction Celebration” will take place at the parking lot adjacent to 1031 S. Hill Street.
The YWCA Greater Los Angeles has worked for several years to create an environment where the L.A. Job Corps students could live and learn in an environment conducive to a higher standard of living which many of us experience daily. We set out to create this environment by vowing to build a brand new home and campus for the hundreds of emancipated, lost and homeless youth to experience a sense of pride and security in a place to call home.
As this opportunity unfolded, many of you rallied around the YWCA Greater Los Angeles to create the necessary parts that would ultimately result in the building of YWCA Los Angeles Job Corps “Urban Campus” -- right in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. And for this, on behalf of the Job Corps students, I extend our deep appreciation and a heartfelt “thank you”. I hope you will be able to join in the celebration. Please RSVP to Executive Assistant, Ruth Hern at
